Dahlia (Compositae) is best known by its various cultivated forms of D. variabilis/i>. Because of their ready availability and great variation in flower color, these cultivars have been the subjects of numerous studies on the analysis of flavonoid pigments they produce. Dahlia actually consists of a large number of extant species endemic to Mexico, Central America, and northernmost South America. Yet, until now, no study of flavonoids in these taxa has been undertaken. This volume reports on the flavonoids found in the 21 taxa endemic to these areas.
