The Lecythidaceae are a pantropical plant family of 20 genera whose comparative mophology and embryology have been little known or understood.This volume provides a comprehensive treatment, at the generic level, of the embryology prior to fertilization, the palynology, and the reproductive morphology of all 20 genera of Lecythidaceae. Embryological, palynological, and reproductive morphology characters, in turn, establish a monophyletic circumscription of the Lecythidaceae that is reported on in this volume, establish the systematic position of this monophyletic Lecythidaceae, and consider the systematic relationships of those genera removed from the Lecythidacae s.l.
