Abstract
The authors present an update of the World List of Cycads, which is a list of the valid names of all extant cycads, together with details of their countries of occurrence, the primary publication references, and herbarium localities for the types and details of their conservation status. The data given for each genus is followed by a list of synonyms. The number of species on the current list is as follows: Bowenia (2), Ceratozamia (21), Chigua (2), Cycas (98), Dioon (13), Encephalartos (65), Lepidozamia (2), Macrozamia (41), Microcycas (1), Stangeria (1), and Zamia (57) to give a total of 303 species.
