Abstract
OSBORNE, R. (Dept. of Chemistry, University of Natal, King George V Avenue, 4001 Durban, Republic of South Africa). Micropropagation in cycads. Memoirs of The New York Botanical Garden 57: 82–88. 1990. A brief review is made of the use of haploid and diploid tissue culture of various cycad species. Callus formation is readily achieved but morphogenesis appears erratic and infrequent. Current work by the author and other workers is described. With primary root tissue of Stangeria eriopus callus formation in dark conditions is followed by morphogenesis on transfer to constant light conditions. Further applications of cycad tissue culture work are described.
