This report provides a key to the Neotropical genera of Stereum s.l.-including their look-alikes-along with generic and species descriptions, keys to species, black and white illustrations, and distribution information. This basic information is an important contribution to aid identification of known members of this group in the Neotropics, and determine the new. The information in this report also provides an important base for needed further research on the interrelationships of this poorly understood group- which emerging molecular evidence suggests may be held together by only the most superficial characters, loosely interpreted.
