This monograph is the first installment of a three-part study of the synandrous Mimosaceae occurring in the Americas, that is, those genera of the tribe Ingeae ever referred to Pithecellobium Martius. In the first comprehensive treatment since 1875, Part I covers the genera Abarema, Albizia, and Allies.The plants in this grouping are mostly monopodial or sympodial woody plants with monomorphic or dimorphic branch-systems. The species vary in stature from dwarf shrublets to gigantic trees. Includes phylogenetic analyses, keys, descriptions, black-and-white drawings, and distribution maps.
