Combretaceae. Flora Neotropica (107)
This volume is a monograph of the family Combretaceae in the Americas. Full descriptions of all 85 American species and their infraspecific taxa are provided, together with details of ecology, distribution and reproductive biology, a list of exsiccatae examined, and a discussion of taxonomic characteristics and problems. All the species are illustrated, at least in part, and references are given to illustrations elsewhere. Dichotomous keys to all the taxa are provided, as are comprehensive dot-maps showing the occurrence of each taxon. The two richest centers of diversity are Amazonia and SE Brazil. The main commercial interest is for timber; two species of Terminalia are important in the international market.
