Out of the Woods: Celebrating Trees in Public Gardens (November, 2017) was published by The New York Botanical Garden on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name. This joint exhibition with the American Society of Botanical Artists features more than 40 magnificent, detailed depictions of trees found in botanical gardens and arboreta around the world, including NYBG.
The 60-page catalog features full-color plates of each artwork as well as essays illuminating the pivotal importance of living collections in the conservation of the planet’s trees, as well as the continued significance of botanical art in the 21st century. These paintings and drawings are both scientific documents and beautiful works of art.
