A new species of Encephalartos (Zamiaceae) from Tanzania. Memoirs of The New York Botanical Garden 57: 156–161. 1990. Encephalartos sclavoi, a new species from Central Africa, is a member of a group of species containing E. bubalinus, E. gratus, E. hildebrandtii, E. tegulaneus, and E. voiensis. Encephalartos sclavoi is most closely related to E. voiensis from which it differs in vegetative and reproductive characters and habitat preference.
